Where's our Imperial Measurements?

There's a lot going on at the moment so there may be a few articles in quick succession to reduce the backlog of articles. Below is an excellent letter to the Daily Express from Rex Poulton:
Sir,
It with great disappointment that I read in the Daily Express today http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/300826/UK-braced-for-extended-chilly-spell that you give expected snowfall in centimetres.
Britain as you know, is an imperial nation and so telling your readers to expect 3-6 centimetres of snow is not very helpful. Do 3-6 centimetres equate to a quarter of an inch (nothing to particularly worry about) or do they represent two feet of snow (Don’t even think of going out today) ? How are we to know ? How shall we know whether or not to even step outside the door or embark upon a lengthy journey ? Your information conveys no sensible meaning that we can understand.
Given that the political will of the British people is supreme above Her Majesty (with whom the people have a fully binding contract - the English Constitution) and Parliament (over whose power the Constitution lawfully rules to this day) we have neither asked nor agreed for the use of metric (foreign) terms to be used in our country.
Repeated surveys show that over 90% of British people strongly insist upon using imperial measures as they are simpler to use and were created many hundreds of years ago specifically for Britain by the British. As we have given no electoral mandate to change from this arrangement, the use of metric terms is unlawful in this country.
Might we therefore be shown the courtesy of imperial measurements that we use and understand in all your daily articles, please ?
Yours faithfully,
Rex Poulton
If they don't change their ways, boycott the newspaper. Also note that Acres have been taken off Planning forms for councils. They use Hectares instead which is metric - 100m x 100m = 10,000 sq.m, although some argumentative architects still write it in acres!
