Honesty is the best policy!
Dear Sir Peter,
This is urgent! As the MP for a huge rural area, this matter should trouble you greatly. Our local independent butcher is closing in a couple of weeks’ time; literally for reasons of racism and exploitation. Everyone in the village here is upset by this. The butchers know but are hesitant to speak out. There has been no conflict, they have simply been priced out as traditional meat becomes harder to source and much more expensive while Halal and Shechita meat suppliers continue with their giant confidence trick of dumping more and more cheap, tortured, “sacrificed” meat on us, aided by echoes of the Holocaust and using the very real fear of being accused of “racism” to silence any objections! I call it, wicked!
Please read the links in this letter for information concerning the deceitful retail of Halal and Shechita (Kosher) meat in Britain and across Europe. This is information which all ordinary British and European housewives/consumers badly need to know and have the right to!
In Britain, it concerns tons of meat sold every week as “British” with a Union Jack on it, or with the New Zealand lamb stamp, giving the impression that it is “normal” and “traditional” when it is NOTHING OF THE KIND! This deceit is rampant across the British meat industry, in ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, the Co-op, etc. This issue is clearly not being tackled responsibly by your government. I would like to know why?
I am most unhappy to have recently discovered, months too late, the fact that the issue of the possible future labelling of ritually slaughtered meat as such, was debated by MEPs in April 2011, just months after another labelling proposal was struck out by the European Union. What happened? Do you know anything about this? Perhaps you could look into this and give me and the other British people your honest views? Conservative MEP Struan Stevenson, representing Scotland in the European Parliament, drafted an amendment to the food information bill calling for kosher meat to be labelled "this product comes from an animal slaughtered by the shechitah method". He has asked for similar labelling for halal meat. Perhaps you could look into this and give me your honest views?
This is not anti-Semitism, and I will greatly resent any such accusation. An article on this uncomfortable subject here is from a Jewish website:
Certain influential individuals in the Jewish and Muslim communities appear to have banded together in order to continue to deceive and mislead the vast majority of British shoppers. Why has the British Government, which claims to be concerned about the rights of the people, allowed this to pass without comment or objection? Please explain what is happening and why? Why is this deceit being allowed? Conspiracy to Defraud is a very serious crime which carries a prison sentence for those found guilty of it. I trust you and you parliamentary colleagues are aware of this?
Why should the unsuspecting and innocent wider population of Britain be burdened in this way by being obliged to continually subsidise the food of religious communities with which they are totally unconnected? Without even being asked? Is this fair?
No, if religious communities want fancy food, let them pay the price like everyone else?
Thanks to apathy, collusion, or whatever it is that is wrong with the British Government at present, which appears to have no brains, guts or backbone anymore, this enormous deception, will not only continue but, is now set to escalate because the repercussions are going to be VERY GRIM INDEED, now that the EU have wiped their hands of it!

Now there is a green light for the religious slaughterers to take over our food industry, AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING: “enough to feed 30 million Europeans each year”... here. This is just one example! There will now be a shift in investment towards more Halal and Shechita (Kosher) meat in Britain and across Europe! The labelling issue has been resolved in the favour of Moslems and Jews, thanks to the anti-Semitic and racism accusations of their lobbyists. Now the investment floodgates are opening.
As the ritual slaughter industry grows, it is dumping more and more cheap slaughtered meat (the hind quarter offcuts which their people will not buy – which can be up to 70% of the carcass) into the meat mainstream and it is being labelled with Union Jacks and tractors and being called “British Meat” but remains unlabelled as to being ritually slaughtered and the cruelty involved in this process. This deception of the British shopper is being aided by most of our disgustingly complicit hyper and super markets, and the innocent, naïve and unsuspecting British consumer is buying vast amounts of this meat in total innocence.
Meanwhile, our traditional slaughter houses are failing miserably and disappearing, and our traditional butchers are rapidly closing, LIKE THE ONE IN MY AREA WHICH HAS BEEN SUPPLYING LOCAL PEOPLE FOR OVER 100 YEARS.
All that talent, expertise and tradition is being lost across Britain, and these are countless thousands of jobs that will not be there for ordinary young people in the future. This is very, very serious!
The massive Muslim and Jewish meat industries have a double whammy because only their own butchers can supply their own people, so this is a very useful monopoly because these religious people do not buy from British butchers. However, the offcuts (half to three quarters of each carcass) which they do not eat are then sold to the mainstream food industry to flood out and undercut our traditional butchers and slaughter men. Can anyone in the Government understand the simple economics of this? An average 8 year old should be able to! It is not rocket science!

It is also highly likely that the closure of smaller butchers and meat suppliers across Britain is being aggravated by the climate change directives from the EU, issued years ago, which dictate modern fridges be purchased over set periods of years to replace older ones which do not reach a perceived “Global Warming” standard. My opinion on this is twofold:
that the research on global warming has been discredited recently due to the falsification and tampering of data at the University of East Anglia (the “hockey stick” data). So is the change to new refrigeration equipment really so urgent as was believe back in the 1990s?
Secondly, when these directives were issued, Britain and Europe were not in the RECESSION/DEPRESSION that we are now unfortunately in. If banks are now hesitant to lend money to small butchers and meat processors to buy this equipment, and if the businesses themselves feel insecure about the future and whether such loans would be burdensome in the current fiscal climate and too difficult to pay off, this is a seriously negative situation for the future of our meat industry. The British Government have a moral duty here and, if it is decided that these changes must go ahead anyway even if unnecessary, should pay for the new equipment, through government grants, etc. so decent small businesses do not go under due to these draconian directives being enforced. Please look into this matter with urgency as we may soon have very few if any small butchers left in Britain. The cards are stacked against them and they are in deep trouble.
I repeat, soon the small independent butcher and slaughterhouse will be gone forever from Britain! This also explains the closure of the cattle markets across Britain and all the jobs lost there, doesn’t it? Shame on you all in Parliament! What a disgrace, how evil of you to allow things to fall to this appalling level for the people who have placed their trust in you.
I predict our wonderful meat industry will be completely gone in the next couple of years and all our meat will have been ritually slaughtered. Eventually, even the pork will have to be dispatched in this hideous way in the future if there are no traditional abattoirs left to do this work!
UNLESS SOME URGENT, HONEST ACTION IS TAKEN NOW!
This trend is highly likely to have a knock-on effect in areas of farming, animal welfare and the increase of battery farming, and mega dairies in the future, in my opinion. The so-called British “Farmers Union” being about as much use to British farmers and British consumers as a chocolate teapot,
I believe! Are they in innocence over this situation? Who knows?
Another area of great concern that I would like to draw your attention to, in relation to this great meat confidence trick, is the position of our Sikh population who deserve the same full respect and consideration granted to all other religious groups. You cannot disagree with that! Are you and your Parliamentary colleagues aware that the Sikh religion has a specific and categorical ban on all Halal and Kosher slaughtered meat, and all Sikhs are forbidden to eat it?
The Sikh religion categorises meat as Jhatka – swiftly killed and acceptable to Sikhs , as opposed to Kuttha – where the animals suffer and are sacrificed to God.
Kuttha (Halal and Kosher/ Sechita) is rejected totally by the Sikh religion.
See this reference from here.
What is Jhatka Meat and Why?
Jhatka meat is meat in which the animal has been killed quickly without suffering or religious ritual.
Sikhism, A Complete Introduction, Dr. H.S.Singha & Satwant Kaur, Hemkunt Press We must give the rationale behind prescribing jhatka meat as the approved food for the Sikhs. According to the ancient Aryan Hindu tradition, only such meat as is obtained from an animal which is killed with one stroke of the weapon causing instantaneous death is fit for human consumption. However, with the coming of Islam into India and the Muslim political hegemony, it became a state policy not to permit slaughter of animals for food, in any other manner, except as laid down in the Quran - the kosher meat prepared by slowly severing the main blood artery of the throat of the animal while reciting verses from the Quran. It is done to make slaughter a sacrifice to God and to expiate the sins of the slaughter. Guru Gobind Singh took a rather serious view of this aspect of the whole matter. He, therefore, while permitting flesh to be taken as food repudiated the whole theory of this expiatory sacrifice and the right of ruling Muslims to impose it on the non-Muslims. Accordingly, he made jhatka meat obligatory for those Sikhs who may be interested in taking meat as a part of their food.
Sikhs and Sikhism, Dr. I.J.Singh, Manohar Publishers. And one semitic practice clearly rejected in the Sikh code of conduct is eating flesh of an animal cooked in ritualistic manner; this would mean kosher and halal meat.
The Sikh Rehat Maryada (The Official Code of Conduct)
An Amritdhari Khalsa Sikh is not allowed to eat the meat of an animal slaughtered the Muslim way.
In Punjabi the word "Kuttha" specifically means meat prepared according to the Muslim ritual slaughter.
Punjabi-English Dictionary, Punjabi University, Dept. of Punjabi Lexicography, Published Dec. 1994. "Kuttha: meat of animal or fowl slaughtered slowly as prescribed by Islamic law."
Punjabi English Dictionary, Singh Bros., Amritsar "Kuttha: Tortured, killed according to Mohammedan law."
The passing-off of masses of meat from ritual slaughter, unlabelled, into the meat retail mainstream renders almost any meat from British butchers or supermarket butchery departments unacceptable to our Sikh population, many of whom have been forced to become vegetarian because of this contrived vaguery. This is an extremely unfair situation, very disrespectful and very wrong, isn’t it! The Sikhs are being let down by the government, aren’t they?
What a shameful mess this all is. How dare the practitioners of foreign and cruel practices be given such unfair advantage over our own decent and traditional meat industry workers?
Why are some religious groups in Britain being given preference and advantage over others?
Sir Peter, You will find there are many video clips on the Web showing Halal and Shechita meat production, many are very gruesome. I hope you have the courage and stomach to view some so you are aware of my and many others’ concerns in this area.
And this is an example of typical whitewash of the meat industry, I believe: here PAGE 31, meat processing described in general terms, it is misleading, mentions the closure of abattoirs – but not the real reason why. Many pretty picture postcard-type photos of cute cows and calves, etc. to mislead us all into thinking all is well in the British meat industry. It does not discuss animal welfare at all, or the changes in slaughter techniques, or the great distress caused by longer travelling distances for the unfortunate animals which is another knock on affect of the closure of the small abattoirs around the country and the “consolidation” this article describes.
Yours sincerely,

This minister is enacting foreign laws which is an act of sedition as it is subverting our own constitution!
Meanwhile, here is what is happening in the real world as local butchers continue to close:
