A Sad Loss to Lincolnshire
By Lincs Patriot on Aug 21, 2010 | In News, Local

It is with deep sadness that the British National Party takes leave of one of its Lincolnshire stalwarts, Christopher John Robinson, 68.
Mr Robinson, of South Witham, was a constructive and selfless contributor to the British National Party.
He served on the South Witham Parish Council, stood as an Independent for district. In 2009 he stood for the British National Party in the County Council elections, beating Labour first time out. In 2010, despite ill health he again stood for the British National Party as a parliamentary candidate in the constituency of Grantham & Stamford.
He campaigned throughout his life without prejudice against inept governance, repressive European laws and mismanaged immigration.
His articulate election address won almost 2,500 votes, more than one quarter as many as the Labour candidate and more than the UKIP candidate.
Mr Robinson was born at Ingoldsby and educated at the King’s School in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
At 16 he joined the Merchant Navy as an apprentice deck officer. Having achieved the rank of Second Officer he left the sea, studied accountancy and rose to Finance Director of a major shipping company in London.
He then moved to South Witham, near a former family farm, where he established a new company to supply energy conservation systems. At the same time he built new offices, employed local people and landscaped his garden to his own design.
During the same period he wrote a history of the Vikings and taught the history as a circuit lecturer.
Mr Robinson battled with oesophageal and secondary cancers for nearly six years without complaint to the end.
He leaves a wife, a son, daughter, stepson, and three grandchildren, as well as his mother and four siblings.
Footnote:
When I spoke to Chris on many occasions, he always wanted the party to do well in his local area of South Kesteven and donated generously to help the cause. He said to me many times he would stand as a candidate for Grantham & Stamford, but when his cancer reappeared and knowing it was terminal he didnt think he would be alive for the general election. The success in the Euro elections and his own fight against the County Council leader in 2009 gave him much joy and he was able to see out one of his last wishes, which was to stand for the Party in the general election, which he did admirably. A sad loss.
