A near miss in Boston

For those that did not know we contested a Lincolnshire County Council by-election in Boston North West last night with our candidate David Owens who was elected to the Borough Council last year. Unfortunately we were a mere 17 votes from winning, with the CONservatives holding on to the seat - just.
Result 15th October 2009:
Conservatives 597 (38.7%)
British National Party 581 (37.7%)
Labour 204 (13.2%)
Lib Dem 160 (10.4%)
The Independent candidate withdrew (at the CONservatives request perhaps?).
Result 4th June 2009
APPLEBY, Paul James Liberal Democrat
AUSTIN, Alison Mary Boston Bypass Independent 283 (15.6%)
BAKEWELL, Andrew Martin* Independent 82 (4.5%)
JENKYNS, Andrea Marie Conservative 463 (25.5%) DOWN 10.9% GAIN
KENNY, Pam Labour 205 (11.3%) DOWN 27.5%
LEGGOTT, Richard Francis Independent 279 (15.4%)
WESTCOTT, Colin British National Party 374 (20.6%)
T/O 27%
It is worth mentioning that it was noticable back In June that the Lincolnshire Independents stood candidates where the BNP were standing - Coincidence? - we think not! Just goes to show how Independent some candidates are as they work with other parties to keep the dreaded BNP out. They must be really chuffed at helping Conservatives etc whose personnel have previously committed Treason against Britain and its people.
