Kesteven & Lincoln Meeting
By Lincs Patriot on Mar 1, 2009 | In News, Local
The latest Kesteven and Lincoln group meeting turned its focus of attention to North and South Kesteven with around 30 people in attendance. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce new members and supporters to each other and to get more activities going in the area.
Guest speaker for the night was Phil ("the Doc") Edwards who used to be the parties national press officer. The Doc gave us all a fascinating insight into his dealings with the media over the years and how they always portray the BNP in a bad light. A recent example he spoke of was the article in the Independent newspaper showing a photograph of some "skin heads" and trying to make the reader believe they were members of the BNP (which they were not!). Readers of this article might like to look at the photo above if they would like a glimpse of the real membership/supporters.
Organiser, Mike Clayton spoke about the parties continued progress in Lincolnshire as a whole, reporting that enquiries are flooding in now due to lots of people leafleting in different districts (the party recently ran out of info packs!). This is set to continue as we had people come forward to help in both Sleaford and Grantham.
A collection, merchandise sales and donations for tea and coffee raised over £100 which will pay for yet more leaflets. We ended with a quote, from one of the parties stalwarts - Leicesters John Ryde (East Midlands Press Officer and Cllr), whom commented late last year after the leaked membership list:
"This is a last desperate attempt by a diseased and dying fascist government to deny democracy to the British people. They have made a gross misjudgement, which will come back and kick them in the backside"
John Ryde. member 10407. Occupation, pensioner and freedom fighter.
